Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)

MEDS’ Direct Care Paraprofessional training will prepare students to become a Certified Nurse Assistant in as little as 8 weeks. By combining 75 hours of classroom instruction with 100 hours of “hands on” direct care training, students will have the skills and knowledge to enter one of the fastest growing professions in the healthcare industry.

Students learn basic nursing skills to meet the needs of their patients. Classroom instruction incorporates interesting demonstrations and simulations with state-of-the-art medical training equipment and lively classroom discussions and presentations by industry professionals.

Some of the skills and techniques students learn include vital signs, infection control, restorative care, bathing and grooming, transfers, feeding and nutrition, medical record documentation, and resident’s rights.

The Staff ‘N’ Student Mentoring program partners students with a seasoned professional for 100 hours of direct care experience. UNIQUE TO MEDS

SOS – Students on Staff
The Students On Staff (SOS) Program is a unique concept that offers solutions to staffing and placement issues for facilities, home health agencies, and students. When a participating facility or agency has an open position, they can recruit from the MEDS pool of graduates rather than advertise or hire from placement agencies. Students get first consideration for available positions while facilities save valuable time and money. For more information, call 816-373-MEDS (6337).

Staff ‘N’ Student Mentoring Program
The Staff 'N' Student Mentoring Program partners students with an experienced staff member and a State-approved Clinical Supervisor for the required clinical hours. Students learn first hand proper procedures and techniques while assisting with daily tasks and responsibilities.
